The project, which is located in the Etiler district of Beşiktaş, is in an area with dense housing texture. Since the 1960s, the residential use, including ground uses, has not been interrupted by commercial units to a large extent, and it maintains its residential area character today. The dominant detached building typology of the region, which does not involve basements and allows the use of gardens, brings some differentiations with the building renovations today.

The project area in question is a corner plot. Neighborhood relations are a residential structure on one side and a multi-storey car park structure on the long side. The construction conditions of the parcel are the previous building’s references in the same parcel within the maximum height criteria. The location of the building was also decided according to the old structure and took its corner points. The housing shares in the existing building do not change on floor basis, but the roof and garden floor houses are differentiated. Therefore, the structural and architectural decisions that we see in various other similar renovation areas are hindered in taking the basic mass decisions. Contour and height conditions as well as owner and practitioner stability prepared the cores of the dominant architectural decisions in advance.
Within this information and conditions, we tried to transform the volumetric data of the previous building into a new building with new facade decisions based on retractions and mass reductions.
The green texture of the previous building, built in the 1970s, and the grown trees have been re-associated with the building to a large extent, especially on the street sides. The residences associated with the garden level and all three block entrances were determined by the existing tree organization.
Residential balconies were formed by being pulled in, in a setup that could be associated with the interior. Aluminum panels were added as a facade element to create sunscreens as well as partial privacy.
The interface between the building and the street was defined and constructed as a recreation area for the apartment.
