The orientation of the project area became an advantage for us. A seven meter wide road on the west side with 12.50 to 15.50 meter high buildings lined up along on the west side, provided a latitude for our settlement program. The east side became a facade with a view point advantage facing the street that provides the main access to the building. The parking garage and entrances to the building are also located at this side.

1+1, 2+1, 4+1 apartments take place on each floor in two different blocks. Each block has 20 housing units which makes 40 units/ apartments in total. Some parts of the basement floor, which came into the open because of the grade difference, were used as common spaces such as gym and service areas.

The decision of having 2 blocks in the project, gave us the opportunity to directly relate both streets that provide access to the building with each other. While the east side has access for vehicle and guests, the west side provides easy pedestrian access to the central locations. The different street levels resulted in having two different building heights. In order to highlight this difference horizontally, the interaction between the two adjacent buildings were considered as a whole within the design of the facade. The grade difference was eliminated by use of a plinth which was geometrically synchronised with the projections from the upper floors. This way the effect of the continuous balconies in relation to the orthogonal design and the irrational geometry of the plot area were interrupted by the partial retractions of expansions on the balconies, leading to a fragmentation of the solid perception of the building. The gradient panels on the facade, softly shifting colour through the upper floors, provide a vertical transformation while stating an other fragmented behaviour.
